League Rules

The information listed on this page is, at the present time, only temporary and may change at any time. This is merely a rough draft of the rules, regulations and purpose of the Juneau Power League.

Mission

A league established for the sole purpose of producing a higher level of dart play in Juneau with an emphasis on fun, fellowship and good sportsmanship.

Initial sign up fee of $50.00 per person.  If a person pays the initial sign up fee they are registered to participate in the year end tournament designated by the board regardless of how many weeks they have participated during the established schedule.  A weekly fee of $5.00 will  be paid by each player with that money going toward the year end tournament.  We will accommodate “drop in” players who will pay $5.00 per night that they participate. The drop in players can play as many weeks as they would like but will not be allowed to play in the year end tournament until they have played 10 weeks or paid the drop in sign up fee. A drop in player may sign up and be qualified for the year end tournament by paying the remaining portion of the sign up fee.  The remaining fee will be pro rated based on how many weeks they have played up to the point they decide to sign up and the fee will be a total of $50.00

Format

Play will begin by establishing a round robin format (depending on how many participants) with a single elimination knock out once round robin play is complete.  Round Robin play will be for positioning purposes only.

Games will be singles, 501 straight in and double out, with the round robin brackets being the best 2 out of 3.  The elimination rounds will be the best of 5 with the finals being best of 7.  This format may be altered based on the number of people signing up, as well as the level of play. It is the intent of having the evening end by 11 PM at the latest. Play will begin at 7 PM.

Round robin seating will be established on a blind draw format.

A weekly prize of $40.00 will be awarded to the first place finisher.

Awards

Awards are defined as a dollar amount to be used toward travel to a pre-approved tournament.  The dollar amount will be determined by the number of participants and the total dollar amount.

Awards will be given for the following:

  • Total “Win” points by players throughout the year.
  • Winners of year end tournament.
  • One blind draw winner.

All winning prizes will be awarded for travel to a preselected tournament with the amount of each prize being established based on league participation.

Points/Awards

Points will be given in the following 2 categories:

Win Points

  • 1 point per win through the round robin bracket.
  • 10 points for 1st place in the knock out round.
  • 7 points for 2nd place in the knock out round.
  • 4 points for both 3rd and 4th place finishers in the knock out round.

The players at the end of the year with the highest total points will receive “Awards.”

Year End Tournament

The top 3 winners of the year end tournament will receive awards.

If a player is one of the winners of the “Win Points” module, they are not eligible to acquire an additional award at the year end tournament.  They are encouraged to play the year end tournament but the award will default to the next eligible player if the “Win Points” participants place in the top 3.  For example: Player 1 wins the “Win Points” module and places 3rd in the year end tournament. Player 1 would not receive the award and it would default to player 4, provided they are eligible for the award.

In the event someone does not go to the designated tournament the “Award” would default to the next highest qualifier. If that qualifier does not elect to attend the designated tournament, the “Award” would continue on down the line until a participant was willing to travel.  In the event that no one wants to go, the “Award” in question would carry over to the following year.

One award will be picked, blind draw, from all qualified participants in the year end tournament. Three names will be drawn and if the first person selected decides not to attend the designated tournament it would default to the second person and so on. If the third person elects not to go, the award will carry over to the next year.

High Score Points

Point totals will be established for high throws and the player with the highest point total at the end of the season will receive the “Champions” shirt. This will be a nicely clad dart shirt distinguishing this person from all others as the “Power League Point Champ.”

  • 1 point for every 95-139 scored.
  • 2 points for every 140-177 scored.
  • 3 points for every 180 scored.

A list will be posted every week with the person’s name, how many nights played, how many of the above mentioned scores as well as the high “two dart out” and the high “three dart out.” The winner of the “High Scores Points” will not receive any of the award money.

26 Pot

There will be a “26” pot that will cost each player .25 cents each time a 26 or lower is thrown while your score is above 100. This is an honor system and the funds will go toward the year end tournament.

170 Pot

A “170 out” pot will also be established with a cost of $1.00 per week.  It is each player’s choice as to whether or not they would like to participate in the weekly 170 pot and if they are paid in full and throw the 170 out, they receive the pot. If they have not signed up prior to play beginning, they will not be entitled to the money. This pot will grow on a weekly basis and if the 170 is not hit by the end of the year, the money carries forward the next year. The 170 out money will be noted each week on the stat sheet as well.

League Structure

The league will consist of 3 officers and they are as follows:

Double Bull-commonly known as the President.

  • This person will be responsible for leading the organization as well as running cover for the league.  They will be the person that works with Squire’s Rest on issues of concern to the league.

Single Bull-commonly known as the Vice-president.

  • This person will ensure the playing field is up to standards as well as more duties that will be assigned.

Twenty Six- commonly known as the Secretary/Treasurer.

  • This person will ensure an up to date stat sheet is produced weekly.

League officials will be elected by the entire group of participants.  A vote will be held the first night of the league and will carry forward from that day forward until the first night of the following year. It is the responsibility of those three officials to organize and kick off the following year’s league.
