Members of the Juneau Power League held a meeting on Tuesday, September 25th and voted to enact the following changes to this years league and format.
The first order of business was to elect new officers which you can view here.
As for the format, we will be playing 501 as usual. The round robin portion will continue to be 2 games per match with the number of wins in each match being recorded and counting for placement in the knockout round. Everyone advances to the knockout round.
The only real change to the format will be that every 3rd Tuesday of the month we will be playing Cricket instead of 501. 9 marks (three in the triple of the same number) will be kept track of and will add to the high-point totals throughout the season.
You do NOT have to be a member to play on a weekly basis...but as an incentive to get more paid members this year, if you become a member you will have the option of getting a shirt made up with the Juneau Power League logo, your name etc. whether it be silk-screened or embroidered. The member will provide the shirt of their choice and the league will contribute up to $15 to pay for the work done on the shirt. It is the member’s choice as to what is put on the shirt. Just a note however, if you choose to get the JPL logo on the shirt you will want to make the shirt a lighter color, preferably gray or white because of the artwork.
At the “End Of The Year” tournament only paid members will be allowed to play. The top 4 in the tournament will receive $300 toward their costs of traveling to another tournament. Or they can receive $150 in cash. For those who do not end up in the top 4, there is still a chance to win trips. The number of trips to give away will be determined by the amount of money that is available at the end of the year.
We are looking forward to a great turn out this year and encourage all of you to invite your friends to come and play as well. Anyone, male or female can stop by, pay their $5 entry fee for the night and jump right in. Anyone wanting to play does need to be there by 7 pm to make sure they get a spot in the matches for the night. We will still be doing the 170 pot is at $279.00 and the first person to get a 170 out will win the pot. Entry into the pot is only $1 per night. The 26 pot is also returning! Everytime you throw a 26 or less when you have more than 100 points left, you have to put a quarter (.25 cents) into the pot. This money goes toward helping to pay for the trips at the end of the season. Also, the high-out of the night pot will return and also costs $1 per night. Whoever has the highest out for the night wins the pot.
If you’ve never come to one of our weekly matches, make it a point to just come by and play or just sit back and watch. You’ll see that we have a great time and are a very friendly bunch of people. We hope to see you there!
Tuesday nights starting on October 2, 2007 through sometime in March.
